He obtained his degree in Mathematical Science at the University of Murcia in 1982. Tomás Jiménez works as Executive Secretary of the Technology Area of the Conference of Vice-Chancellors of Spanish Universities (www.crue.org), Director of the Technology Area in the University of Murcia (www.um.es/atica) and Director of the International Observatory at the TUI (http://www.observatoriotui.com). Together with these tasks, he is also part of the Spanish Government’s Expert Group on Electronic Administration.

During six years he was professor of software engineering at the University of Murcia’s School of Informatics. He worked as advisor to the European Commission for the evaluation of IT projects and as General Director of Informatics for the Government of the Murcia region.
